Non-payment by states, local bodies leaves EESL in trouble

Over the past two Covid-affected years, the company's receivables from local bodies for streetlights implementation mounted to nearly ₹3,500 crore, almost double the ₹1,670 crore income in FY21. Its income for the nine months ended December 2021 was ₹1,123 crore. The numbers for the fourth quarter and financial year 2021-22 have not yet been posted.
