17 railway stations in Chennai to get solar power plants

Govt orders all imported coal plants to operate

The directive will bring on stream at least 7 GW power plants of Essar Power, Coastal Energen in states such as Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and it will also apply to the plants under the National Company Law Tribunal.

Private power generating companies tell Centre they don't have funds to import coal

The power ministry has asked all power plants to import 10% of their coal requirement from 4% earlier to ease the pressure off domestic coal. The private power companies said they are keen to import coal to ensure adequate coal stocks. "However, they have all stated paucity of liquidity for arranging coal imports," said a senior government official.
